French Art Nouveau bracelet. The floral motif (especially the ginkgo leaves) and their naturalistic, sculptural execution are characteristic of the Art Nouveau (Jugend) period (~1890–1915). Stylistic motifs were often used in Art Nouveau jewelry in France (especially in Parisian workshops). The colored glass “rings” are reminiscent of Belle Époque decoration – they are not glitter, but delicate colored glass.

A piece of brass or bronze with a strong patina, natural oxidation spots and wear. This is typical of handmade jewelry from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when mass production processes were not yet widespread. The metal is most likely brass or bronze, which was widely used in French costume jewelry as a durable, easily formed metal. It naturally oxidizes, creating a warm, aged surface.

Clasp mechanism – typical late 19th and early 20th century French pin mechanism used in “bijouterie fantaisie” production. Pin hinge, which is one of the classic antique bangle bracelet clasps used until 1930. The hinge and pin are rough – this indicates a machined, not stamped, mass-produced construction. This pin clasp was popular in both antique French and American bracelets, often used in the “art nouveau” or “art deco” periods.
The shape, ornamentation, and pin of the piece suggest that it is a work of handcraft or artistic design, possibly from the first half of the 20th century, but possibly even older, depending on the context. This bracelet has great collector's value.

Possible workshops or authors (if unmarked):

  • Louis Rousselet (famous for his imitation glass and pearls)
  • Maison Fix (used bronze and ornamentation)
  • Anonymous "bijouterie de fantaisie" craftsmen from the Marais or Montmartre districts of Paris
