Marcel Boucher, one of the most famous American designers of fine jewelry. The mark “BOUCHER” and patent number 171059 allow us to date these earrings to the late 1940s and early 1950s, well after the golden age of Art Deco, but still very much influenced by its aesthetic. The arrangement of the arches and linear crystals reflects Art Deco’s passion for symmetry and architectural forms. The baguette-cut crystals are characteristic of the Art Deco style – often using small rectangles (baguettes) carefully arranged in rows. The shiny silver tone is also characteristic of this style, imitating platinum, which was very popular during the Art Deco period. The decorative fold and the shape of the edges of the earrings and the winding contour create a subtle but strict aesthetic.
