A blue faceted stone (probably glass or synthetic sapphire imitation) pendant, above it a small clear stone (zircon). The chain is marked “1/20 12KT GF”, which means “gold-filled” (the gold layer is 1/20 of the total weight, 12 carat gold). “ IPS” stands for “Imperial Pearl Syndicate”. This US company operated from 1940 to 1970. Gold-filled (GF) jewelry is many times more durable than standard gold-plated jewelry. GF jewelry is made by layering 2 or 3 metals at very high temperatures, one of which is gold.
