This is a Japanese-style gold-decorated wooden mini chest of drawers with three drawers. Anexceptional mid-20th century handmade piece, covered in gold-tone lacquer and decorated with flying crane (tsuru) motifs. These birds symbolize longevity, peace and spiritual peace in Japanese culture. The sides and drawers of the chest of drawers are decorated with delicate hand painting, and the curved shapes and small legs give it an elegant antique charm. This type of box was popular in Japan and exported to Western markets in the 1950s-1970s, often used to store jewelry, small accessories or calligraphy supplies. An authentic work of oriental art, suitable for both collection and as an exclusive interior accent.
At the top is a square stamp with traditional kanji, often representing the name of a workshop or craftsman. This confirms that the box is authentically made in Japan and not a copy exported to the United States without a marking.
