Bakelite is the first industrially produced plastic, extremely popular between the wars. Jewelry made from it is considered collectible today. This brooch is a greenish-brown color with a marble effect, typical of Art Deco aesthetic products. The carved geometric wavy texture gives a play of light. Such “carved” Bakelite surfaces were fashionable in the 1930s and 1940s.
