This brooch is likely from the 1940s-1960s. period, called a “scarab brooch”. Circular in shape with 7 different colored carved glass elements, imitating ancient Egyptian scarabs. Molded glass scarabs were used in higher-end vintage costume jewelry, especially in the 1940s-1950s. Back: smooth gold-colored metal, with a characteristic “hand” mechanism clasp. This type of brooch was very popular in the post-war United States (especially in the 1950s-1960s), when the Egyptian revival fashion was taking place.
