This brooch has a beautiful openwork design, decorated with floral and plant motifs in relief. Thisantiquebrooch is most likely madein the early 20th century or in the late Victorian/Edwardian era(around 1890–1915), but it is also possible that it is Art Nouveau (Jugendstil)style.Plant ornaments, flowers, expressive lines are very characteristic of the Art Nouveaustyle (1890–1910). The clasp has a longpin, curved upwards and a “C clasp” type clasp – typical of brooches of the late 19th century – early 20th century. The metalis probably gilded, possibly “gold-filled”,“gold plate”, “vermeil”. The brooch looks likea cast form with later manual engraving or pressing – this is typical of both handmade and semi-mechanized production until the 30s of the 20th century.
