This heart-shaped pendant with a blue, red and clear stone dates from the early 20th century - around 1910-1920, i.e. the end of the late Edwardian/Victorian period. The tricolor color scheme (red, white, blue) symbolized patriotism, especially important during the First World War. Heart-shaped lockets were very popular at the time - used as "sweetheart lockets" to hold photos of loved ones or locks of hair. The engraved surface on the back reflects the design of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. The three colored stones inside (stylized as a flower) are also typical of sentimental, romantic motifs.
